Why so surprised?
Should have seen it coming
Shrouded in darkness
Hands grasping firmly
Pressure does not motivate.
It only leaves a bruise

Bewilderment is puzzling
All the strings were pulled
Ears ringing
Mental images tarnished
It never sees the sunlight.
The flower cannot grow

The coldness spreads outward
From the planted seed
An eternity of doubt
Frozen in disbelief
The heart is dead.
Now follows the soul

Escape is sought
Fingers of thought stretch
Desperation finds release
Bandaid for a fracture
Sweet insanity.
Reluctantly vanquished
